Help Keep More To Love & The Curvy Closet Thriving for Our Plus-Size Community

I’m Jazmin Whitmore, owner of More To Love Plus-Size Consignment in Asheville, NC. Our mission: everybody deserves clothes that fit their body, style, and budget.

For over six years, I’ve worked to make plus-size fashion both affordable and sustainable. More To Love has grown into a community hub that supports hundreds of consignors and provides high-quality, affordable clothing to thousands of shoppers each year. Now, we’re taking the next step — expanding our mission with The Curvy Closet, a for-donation-only outreach program that provides free, high-quality plus-size clothing directly to nonprofits and community organizations who distribute it to those who need it most.

Even though More To Love — and my family — are still in our re-stabilization period after first the Covid shutdown and then Hurricane Helene, I couldn’t keep waiting for things to become easier or more stable. Our outreach is needed now, and who knows if tomorrow will be any easier. So we’re starting now. This idea has lived in my heart for years, but after our post-Helene work — putting clothes and resources directly into the hands of those who needed them most — I knew I couldn’t keep waiting for perfect timing.

I’ve lived at or below the poverty line my entire life. I know what it is like to go to a job interview in clothes that don't fit well, what it's like to wear lots of layers because you don't have a coat, and to wear a coat inside because you don't have heat. I also know that more people need help every day. I want to help others regain dignity and shorten their struggle by offering the support I can give and making sure it is focused, unlike bulk donating our unsold stock.

Every item we donate is carefully presorted and inspected — only clean, gently used, or new pieces are given. We believe everyone, regardless of income, deserves clothing they can feel proud of wearing, so extra attention is paid to making sure the clothes we share make people feel respected and valued.

We operate through several sustainable cycles that keep clothing in motion and out of landfills:

* Consignment Cycle – Items are sold at 30–60% of retail value, giving shoppers access to quality, size-inclusive fashion they can afford.

* Fair Pay to Consignors – Consignors earn 35–40% of each sale, helping local people recover value from their wardrobes.

* Donation Cycle – Through The Curvy Closet, we use high-quality, presorted donations and unsold inventory to stock for-donation-only pop-ups and clothing bins, which we refill as needed for partner nonprofits with limited space. Nonprofits request the items they need instead of receiving a bunch of items they can't use.

These cycles mean almost nothing goes to waste — every garment funds inclusion, provides direct assistance, or finds a new home.

Your support helps keep our doors open, our prices low, and our outreach growing. It also helps cover More To Love’s essential overhead — keeping resale prices affordable, funding extra storage and transportation for donations, and supporting the many hours of sorting, preparing, and delivering high-quality plus-size clothing directly to those who need it most.

How Your Donations Will Be Used

We believe in full transparency — every dollar donated helps sustain both More To Love and The Curvy Closet, ensuring plus-size clothing, dignity, and support reach those who need them most.

More To Love Operations: Supports the store’s ongoing costs — helping us keep doors open, pay consignors fairly, and continue offering affordable, high-quality clothing to the community.

Sorting, Storage, Outreach & Supplies: Covers extra labor, storage, delivery, and materials such as hangers, bins, signage, and sustainable packaging — while supporting nonprofit coordination, pop-ups, and community awareness efforts.

Giving Back to Local Nonprofits & Community Partners: We love collaborating with local nonprofits and organizations. Your donations help us to be able to have events/benefits sales and provide quality donations to those who need it most.

Our Work in Action

* Delivering career clothing to local Career Centers for students preparing for interviews.
* Providing comfortable, confidence-boosting outfits to recovery and support programs.
* Supplying warm, size-inclusive essentials to organizations serving the unhoused.
* Offering school clothing for plus-size middle and high school students.
* Building a sustainable system where nearly every donated piece finds purpose.
* Reducing strain on local nonprofits by managing and refilling donation bins so they don’t have to maintain permanent clothing storage.

We’re already seeing the impact. More deliveries are planned as new community partners come aboard.

Every donation, volunteer hour, and shared post helps ensure high-quality, size-inclusive clothing reaches those who need it most.

Why Your Support Matters

Even with all these sustainable systems in place, the math doesn’t leave room to breathe. I charge as little as possible so everyone can shop here, but after paying consignors 40%, covering rent, utilities, disaster-recovery loans, and supporting my family, little remains to keep this work going.

This fundraiser bridges that gap — helping us:

* Operate The Curvy Closet and maintain donation deliveries.
* Keep our store open as a safe, inclusive community space.
* Cover additional storage and transportation costs.
* Support the extra time and labor required to sort donations.
* Continue keeping resale prices affordable for our shoppers.

Every dollar sustains the cycles that keep clothing, dignity, and community flowing, ensuring every person who visits More To Love or a Curvy Closet pop-up is met with respect and care.

If you’ve ever shopped, donated, or benefited from More To Love, you’re already part of this movement. Here’s how you can help keep us thriving:

1. Donate Clothing To More To Love: Bring your clean, gently used plus-size clothing to More To Love during one of our collection events.

2. Make a Financial Contribution: Every dollar supports our outreach, operating costs, and ensures we can continue to provide for the community. Donate through our website or in person.

3. Volunteer Your Time: Help with sorting, organizing, or delivering clothing to local partners. Contact us to get involved (Sign-Up Coming Soon).

4. Spread the Word: Share our mission, events, and needs on social media or with friends who may want to support.

5. Partner With Us: If you’re part of an organization, reach out to collaborate on clothing drives or distribution.

Your support keeps our doors open, our bins filled with beautiful, high-quality plus-size clothing, and our community connected.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping me continue making plus-size fashion accessible, sustainable, and filled with love.
