In 2016, my friend Alyssa fell in love with this big black puppy that was up for adoption and after spending some time with him at work one day, she couldn’t not take him home with her. But she needed to clear it with her building first, so I took him in for a couple weeks while she got her place ready. Moose quickly took to my dog, Shiloh, although she wasn’t his biggest fan at first (she was already in her senior years). But I loved having him around and everyone who met him fell in love immediately.

This year, Moose is 8 years old and he was diagnosed with cancer around the holidays. He had surgery recently and has been on medication, which cost Alyssa thousands already and now he will need to undergo radiation, which is an additional $15k. Moose has so much life left to live and Alyssa is willing to do whatever it takes to get him feeling great again. This is her “kid” after all.
