Hi, our names are Autumn and Jon McKinnon.

Firstly, we’d like to thank you so much for even doing as much as reading this GoFundMe.

We adopted our boy Moose in 2019 right before the Covid pandemic from Texas. He was delivered by the team at Anna’s angels to the Canadian Border on the east coast where we picked him up.

Moose is a very active boy, daily 5 kilometer walks, having swims in the river, playing with his toys in the in-laws yard and having an overall great time with his life here in Canada.

Over these past few months he’s developed a limp, which we went to the vet for - had him looked at and was told it was nothing to worry about and was prescribed medication. He seemed to do get a little bit better with daily medication doses until last week.

He began having a very noticeable limp on his left hind leg and as each day passed the limp got worse. We booked the vet again, this time they wanted to get X-rays. Yesterday he was sedated and X-rays were taken. We were told the devastating news that Moose had a torn CCL, which started very slowly, tried to heal itself but healed wrong so his bones are seated incorrectly which in turn creates a ton of pain.

They told us the bill was going to be $6400 for the surgery… and the kicker of it all, they’re booking out until December 18th. 48 days of having Moose cry and whine in pain, all while we have to sit and do nothing but wait…

We called around local vets until 10pm last night and may be able to get into surgery an hour away, but looking at November 13th instead which is hopeful.

We’re currently about to close on a house that is perfect for Moose, no stairs, a big yard and everything to accommodate his recovery. We’re now facing the uncertainty of being able to put a down payment and secure the house because of this medical expense.

$6400 is a lot of money to ask from anyone but Autumn, Moose and I are asking for anyone’s help to assist us in being able to pay for these bills.
