Help Moose the Newf Fix His Leg
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Moose. I’m a 15 month old Newfoundland dog living in New Jersey. When I was 12 weeks old, I had a truly unfortunate accident where I broke my right hindlimb tibia. I got a bone plate and screws to fix it, but it didn’t heal how we thought it was going to. My health insurance didn’t kick in for another two weeks, so they considered this a pre-existing condition and anything relating to it wouldn’t be covered. My new leg deformity stumped a few orthopedic specialists along the way, but it was recently concluded that my tibia bone is bent in two locations - above and below the existing bone plate, and my fibula is hooking outwards worsening the bend. I have a noticeable limp and am afraid if I go without correction for too long, my kneecap will become an issue. After multiple rounds of consultations, X-rays and hydrotherapy, I had a CT scan on 3/22/22 and look forward to the final conclusion from our surgeon. We can expect this surgery to take place in the next 2-3 weeks.
However, all of the costs up to this point have been completely out of mom and dad’s (and family’s) pockets, so we are now asking for some help. The newfie and large breed community has been an absolute godsend for our family so I felt it was worth a shot to try. ANY amount is immensely appreciated, no matter how small it may seem. We love you all and thank you so much for hearing our story.
