OUR STORY

When I brought Moose home, my life looked very different. At that time, there were two incomes in my household, stability felt within reach, and I made the commitment to him believing I could always provide the care, food, and security he deserves. Moose wasn’t an impulse decision—he was a promise.

Since then, my circumstances have changed in ways I never could have anticipated. Ongoing medical issues, combined with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, have deeply affected my ability to work consistently and maintain financial stability. As my health declined, so did my income. Today, I am struggling to cover even my own basic living expenses, let alone the rising costs of proper food, veterinary care, and daily needs for Moose. This is a reality I carry with immense guilt, because loving a dog means wanting to give them everything they deserve.

Moose is far more than a pet to me—he is my emotional support animal and a grounding presence in a life that feels very unstable right now. When my anxiety is overwhelming, Moose is calming. When my depression makes it hard to get out of bed, he gives me purpose. When PTSD causes fear, hypervigilance, or panic, Moose is a steady, reassuring presence that reminds me I am not alone. His quiet companionship provides comfort in ways that words often cannot.

I brought Moose home one year before I lost my 13-year-old canine companion, Oakley, who passed away in March of 2024. Oakley had been with me through many chapters of my life, and losing him left a profound emptiness. Moose helped me survive that grief. He helped fill the silence, the loneliness, and the emotional weight that came with losing a dog who had been family for over a decade.

The thought of rehoming Moose is devastating. He is family. Losing him would feel like losing my emotional anchor during a time when I am already fighting to stay afloat. I want to be clear: I am not asking for help because I don’t care—I am asking because I care so deeply and refuse to let pride or circumstance put Moose at risk.

Moose has a TikTok page where people have come to know his personality, his sweetness, and the bond we share. It was his followers—the community who watches him, supports us, and understands our connection—who encouraged and insisted that I create a GoFundMe. They wanted to help ensure that Moose can continue to receive proper care so he can stay with the person he is bonded to, rather than being rehomed due to circumstances beyond our control.

This fundraiser is not about extras or luxury. It is about food, veterinary care, and stability—about giving Moose the life he deserves while I work through my medical and mental health challenges and try to rebuild financially.

Asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But loving Moose means doing whatever I can to protect him, even if that means being vulnerable and honest about how much I’m struggling right now.

BREAKDOWN:

How the funds will be used (12 months of care for Moose):

Moose weighs 95 pounds, and caring for a large dog—especially one with allergy and immune needs—comes with higher costs. This fundraiser is intended to cover his essential care for one full year, including:

High-quality, allergy-friendly food: ~$1,500/year

Allergy support supplements (monthly): ~$550/year

Immune system supplements (monthly): ~$500/year

Monthly flea & tick prevention (large-dog dose): ~$480/year

Heartworm prevention (annual): ~$180/year

Veterinary follow-up visits (2–3 visits): ~$450/year

Estimated total: ~$3,660
Fundraising goal: $4,000 to allow for cost fluctuations and ensure Moose’s needs are consistently met.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward Moose’s food, preventative care, supplements, and veterinary needs so he can remain healthy, safe, and at home.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, sharing, and helping keep our little family together.
