Help Moose Hofer beat the Big C

On 5/30/2023 my partner Moose Hofer was diagnosed with cancer of the neck and mouth. He has quite an impending battle coming with months of radiation, chemotherapy, painful surgeries, consultations, and follow-up appointments; all requiring many hours of travel back and forth from his home in Gunnison, Colorado.

As we all know, health care is extremely costly, and with a diagnosis and treatment protocol such as this, his loved ones are hoping to band together and help alleviate the financial fears and stresses related to a cancer diagnosis so that he can fully focus his life and energy on healing and recovering and getting back to life on the water.

Having grown up in New Jersey, Moose has been fishing since the age of 4 ...learning his craft as his father cast flies, while seated in his father's backpack.

After graduating college in Golden, Colorado, Moose moved to Gunnsion County in 1997 and started guiding in the trout world in 1998. Moose has 25+ years of guiding experience in flyfishing, wingshooting, waterfowling, and big game hunting, and as result of his experiences, has an encycopedic wealth of knowledge to pass on to his lucky clients; whether it be landing trout, pike, tarpon, salmon, or pulling down an elk, deer or other big game.

He has drifted and angled all across the rivers of Colorado (calling the "Gunni" his home), Montana, Utah, Idaho, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Vermont, Alaska and Maine . His years with Eleven Experience as the Global Angling Director also took him to Iceland and Chile many times.

He guides on foot, raft, dory, skiff, powerboat, and jet boat depending on location, and conditions. Moose is eagle-eyed at sighting fish of all species that will eat a fly, and you’ll understand that passion as soon as you're fortunate enough to fish with him!

When not slaying the chordata realm of the world, Moose is also an accomplished musician, laying down the low-end of the rhythm section on electric and upright bass with bands in rock, country, bluegrass, and soon... square dance music.

Your contribution will go towards supplementing medical bills uncovered by insurance, travel to and from treatments and appointments, lodging for treatment stays, items deemed necessary for recovery, and missed income for living expenses (mortgage, groceries, dog food etc) from the inability to work during the months of the treatments.
