My name is Brooke and I'm a dedicated pigeon rescuer. Reently Moo appeared in my local flock with a severe crop injury. The crop — the pouch pigeons use to store food — had torn open, leaving a large wound in her chest. When she tried to eat, seed was falling straight out.

I couldn’t leave her like that. I brought her home, bandaged the wound, and took her to the vet. Moo needed urgent surgery on the infected injury to stitch the torn crop itself before closing the outer skin.

The surgery was successful!! And Moo is now recovering, but the vet bill came to $630. Thanks to the wonderful members of Sydney Pigeon and Dove Lovers, $140 for her initial consult has already been covered.

I’m now trying to raise the remaining $500. As someone who is always rescuing and caring for pigeons, the costs add up quickly and it can be hard to keep up, especially with a sudden surgery like this.
