Help Moonshot Brewing get through Equipment Failure

Hello community,
We reach out to you in need of some help to stay open. We have experienced a major equipment failure and the end of January for a small business is the hardest time of year financially, between raised costs of goods, quarterly taxes due, and January already being a slow time for business and we could not afford to stay open looking forward with this unexpected extra cost.
The equipment failure occurred in our Glycol System. For those of you who may not know what a Glycol System does for a brewery, it supplies a food-grade antifreeze solution to regulate temperatures in our fermentation tanks. And we can't make beer without it. We purchased our system new, almost 7 years ago from the most reputable company in the business but unfortunately it has failed us with three major failures over those years, all in connection to extreme weather like it getting too hot or too cold outside and the system overheating that this time lead to the melting of our glycol piping. We installed this piping ourselves and after reaching out to the manufacturer, we discovered this “top of the line” piping has since been discontinued. So we are having to rebuild our piping system from scratch. That is the first big cost. We also have to call in an expert on the unit itself to repair the malfunction and keep this from happening again. That is the even bigger cost, because it is not something we can do ourselves.
We will be completely transparent with all of you. We have been working seven days a week for a very long time now. We don’t take any vacations. We don’t make enough money from this business to fix the things that break in our home, or to spend money on anything that isn’t essential. We know how hard things are out there for everyone, especially right now and we have never and would never ask for your help if it wasn’t our only available option.
However, if you want to keep supporting us and see us get through this tough time, but donating to a gofundme is not something you are comfortable with, we totally understand. There are lots of ways you can show us your support:
We would love nothing more than to see all of your smiling faces in our place and serve you a pint or two if that’s how you would prefer to show your support. We are always happy to see you and the sooner the better.
We also have some amazing events coming up that you can stop by for, you can find more information about them here: https://www.facebook.com/moonshotbrewing.
You can share these events or share this gofundme link on your social media.
You can bring in a friend, or purchase gift cards from us to give to them.
You can renew your membership with us as well.
We also have a Brewer’s Dinner coming up featuring a four course, Japanese inspired menu from Chef Angela and her team at Ethos along with a four course beer pairing we have been working on that is sure to impress and we can’t wait to share with you. If you would like to show your support by attending this awesome event, you can purchase tickets at this link: https://moonshotbrewing.square.site/s/order

If you are finding us through someone else sharing our story, here is a little bit about who we are. We are Ryan and Hilary, hello! Ryan is from Sunnyside WA and Hilary is from Cincinnati OH. Despite all odds, we found each other, fell in love, and then we fell in love with Craft Beer through our travels in the PNW. We came away from those shared experiences at local breweries inspired by the community they were able to hold. We wanted to create a welcoming place here in the Tri-Cities, where we had chosen to put down roots and raise our family, for people to be able to gather together making the best beer with the best possible local ingredients. We took a long hard way to get there, but in June of 2019, we opened Moonshot Brewing in Kennewick WA, just 9 months before the Covid19 shutdown. It was through the support of community members like you that we were able to get through that incredibly difficult time as a business. You held us up when we needed you and we have done everything we can to return the favor to our community over these past six years.
Maybe you have joined us for community events including: Oktoberfest, Renaissance Faire, Art Shows, St. Patrick’s Day shenanigans, Lego Builds, Beer Choir, Tattoo Pop-ups, Vinyl Nights, Santa visits, Game Nights etc. all partnering with local businesses. We have joined you for baby showers, wedding receptions, celebrations of life and all of the incredible moments in between. We have hosted fundraiser partnerships for ALS, Mid-Columbia Libraries, Pride Kickoff, a Memorial Scholarship for Erin Steinert, BLM beer, Mikey’s Chance, local running groups, Cavalcade of Authors, adult soccer teams, as well as the countless non-profit organizations we have partnered with by donating kegs to their fundraisers. If it weren’t for our community and wanting to see it thrive, we would not still be here. It is because of all of you that we keep pushing through when things are tough and if you are able to help us through this, we will keep showing up for you in every way we can. Thank you… for everything.
