Help Moonlight & Clementine Recover from Severe Burns
Donation protected
Hi Everyone! My name is Corin and I'm fundraising to help Moonlight, an injured stray kitten that was found on Thursday April 11th. Moonlight was found with severe burn wounds from the top of his head to the base of his tail. The vet said the injury was the result of severe chemical burns, which he believes was intentionally poured onto the kitten. Moonlight is expected to make a full recovery, but he's not out of the woods yet. He will need several visits to the vet for follow up, medication and ointment 3x a day, and lots of love. I'm currently a full time student, so I'm home all day and happy to tend to him and nurse him back to health, but we need help funding his vet bills. We have several special needs cats of our own, and we care for and manage a local colony, so all of our resources are tied up at the moment. Anything helps!
Moonlight (aka Moony, aka Mr. Moony) is a very sweet little boy who has been so calm and trusting through this rescue. We will begin searching for a new home for him in about 3 weeks when he is all healed up. In the meantime, we need to raise money for his vet care. His initial emergency visit was $711, and I anticipate he will need two to three more visits before he's back to full health. I'm including the estimated follow up visit costs, plus his shots and neuter (he's still in tact.) Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about price breakdown.
The full story:
On Thursday April 11th, Michelle and Carmen, his guardian angels, noticed him roaming around the parking lot and managed to catch him and get him help. Initially they planned to turn him over to a shelter or animal control, but Michelle decided to post to a local Facebook group looking for help. Everyone agreed his injuries were severe enough that he may be put down if turned over to a shelter, so I offered to meet Michelle and Carmen at the emergency vet where we waited until almost 3am.
The news was significantly better than expected! Initially I thought the wounds would be too extensive or infected, and I was preparing for the worst news, so it was a very happy surprise when the vet came out with Moonlight and only a tube of ointment and some care instructions! I took him home where I set him up with a clean and secure crate, and have been falling madly in love with him since.
Michelle later reported the incident to her property manager and found out that Moonlight had been wandering around since at least Tuesday. This poor little guy was suffering for at least 72 hours, with numerous passersby, before Michelle and Carmen discovered him. I'm so grateful for these two - seriously! Big shout out and thank you to you both! ❤️
