Hi everyone! My name is Montserrat Torres, and I am incredibly excited and grateful to have earned the opportunity to represent Team USA at the 2026 IRF World Junior Racquetball Championships in Cochabamba, Bolivia!
I will be arriving in Bolivia on December 2nd to practice, prepare, and adjust before competition officially begins on December 4th.
Racquetball has been a huge part of my life since I first picked up a racquet at nine years old. What started as a sport I enjoyed quickly became something that has shaped so much of who I am today. Over the years, racquetball has taught me discipline, perseverance, confidence, sportsmanship, and what it means to keep working toward something even when it isn't easy.
This year, I competed at the USA Racquetball National Junior Championships, where I earned my spot on Team USA and double qualified, meaning I will be representing Team USA in both 18 & Under Singles and 18 & Under Mixed Doubles at the World Championships. Having the opportunity to qualify and represent the United States internationally is something I am extremely proud of and grateful for.
This isn't the first time I've had the honor of being selected to Team USA, but every opportunity to wear USA across my back means just as much to me. Years of practices, tournaments, traveling, wins, losses, and countless hours on the court have gone into reaching this level. Competing at the World Championships gives me the opportunity to put all of that hard work and dedication into action while representing my country in the sport that I have grown up loving.
Junior Worlds is also about so much more than competition. It gives me the opportunity to meet and compete alongside athletes from countries around the world who have dedicated themselves to the same sport. Being able to experience different cultures, styles of play, and friendships through racquetball is something truly special, and it is one of the reasons this sport and its community mean so much to me.
While earning a spot on Team USA is an incredible accomplishment, getting to Worlds also comes with a significant financial commitment. My family and I are responsible for the expenses associated with traveling and competing internationally, including airfare to Bolivia, accommodations, Team USA and tournament fees, entry fees, uniforms, equipment, meals, local transportation, and other travel expenses. With my parents also traveling to support me, the overall cost of making this experience possible adds up very quickly.
That is why I am asking for your support in helping me make it to Bolivia this December. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings me one step closer to getting on that court and representing Team USA. Your support will help ease the financial cost of this journey and allow me to focus on what I have worked so hard for competing, representing my country, and giving everything I have on the court.
I also want to give a very special thank you to my coach, Dave Negrete, who has played such an important role in my development as a racquetball player. His time, coaching, guidance, encouragement, and support have helped me continue growing both on and off the court. I am extremely grateful to have him in my corner and for everything he has done to help me reach opportunities like this.
I am also incredibly thankful for my family, coaches, teammates, friends, and the entire racquetball community that I have grown up around. I would not be where I am today without the people who have supported and believed in me throughout this journey.
If you are able to donate, any amount would mean so much to me and my family. If you aren't able to contribute financially, simply sharing my fundraiser with your friends, family, or others in the racquetball community would be an incredible way to support me as well.
Any funds raised beyond my final travel and competition expenses will help support my continued racquetball journey and future competitions.
Thank you for helping me continue doing what I love and for being part of my journey to represent Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Cochabamba, Bolivia. ❤️
Thank you for believing in me, supporting my journey, and helping me get to Worlds!
