On Thursday, I noticed something was wrong with my beloved pet Monster. He wasn’t coming up the stairs like he usually does, so I went down to help him. When I picked him up, he let out a huge yelp and started squealing in pain. I quickly set him down, and from that moment, I realized he was limping and no longer wanted to get into bed with me. Instead, he started hiding under the bed and couch, just staring and not responding to his name, which is so unlike him. As the days went by, Monster continued to squeal when being picked up, stopped going down the stairs to go potty, and became very lethargic. By Sunday night, I was beyond worried.

I’m on a very low income, but I found a free first-time exam at PetSmart and took him in as soon as I could. The vet said Monster needs a lameness exam and his rabies shot updated, which I managed to pay for. The doctor found pain in his stomach and left back leg, and now Monster needs X-rays and bloodwork before he can even start medication. The total cost is more than I can afford. If the X-rays show something serious that requires surgery, I have no idea how I’ll manage. I’ve already tried credit cards and financing, but my options are exhausted.
