Help Mons & Julie Rebuild

Donation protected
On Thursday, November 8, Mons and Julie Jensen fled the destruction of the Camp Fire along with the rest of their beloved Paradise community. The Camp Fire is now the most destructive and deadly fire in California history, leaving an entire town displaced and reducing over 6,000 homes to ash. Both Mons and Julie evacuated safely, although they each have their own harrowing story. Mons played an integral role in the safe evacuation of Feather River Hospital. If you visit his Facebook page you can see photos and videos showing just how narrowly his escape was. After her students at Paradise Adventist Academy were safely picked up, Julie raced home to ensure the safety of their boarder (a PT student) and to grab what she could from their home. Her journey down the hill and through the flames was a scary one. Their safety is an answer to many prayers.

Unfortunately, their beautiful home was among the 6,000 destroyed by the fire. This house was truly a home, filled with memories from a 31-year marriage and priceless family heirlooms. It is the feeling of home that comes from a safe and love-filled space that brings the Jensens an immense feeling of loss. They, along with thousands of others, endured a traumatic experience and now have no home to return to. They do not yet know the details of rebuilding their house, but they are starting to rebuild their life together as they heal, with help from their family and friends. As Mons says, Money can't buy you happiness, but it can help with the healing.

The Jensens have called Paradise their home for the past 8 years. They have infused the community with life and passion through their active participation in the school, church, and hospital. Their outpouring is rooted in a deep desire to serve others and to, as they say, bloom where they are planted. Mons and Julie have a reputation for being cheerful and generous givers. By giving to the Jensens, you will be giving to the Paradise community as a whole.

They currently do not have any place for donations of clothing or home items. They are taking each day at a time. If you'd like to stay updated, please check Mons' Facebook page. Julie's classroom was also destroyed. Paradise Academy is still trying to figure out what their next steps are, but they will most likely resume after Thanksgiving at a temporary location in Chico. They will most likely need school supplies, especially Julie's kindergarten class. Look out for classroom lists or other information on school needs on Facebook or the school website.
