GoFundMe Story – Help Monique Rebuild After the Hurricane in Jamaica, Montego Bay, St. James
Goal: $50,000 USD
Greetings everyone,
My name is Monique Hamilton, creator of the Earth’s Medicine YouTube channel, where I share the healing wisdom of Jamaican herbs and traditional remedies. For years, I’ve dedicated my life to teaching, inspiring, and helping people reconnect with nature. I’ve never asked for help before, but today my family and I are in a situation where we truly need support.
What Happened
A powerful hurricane recently struck Jamaica, and my community in St. James was severely affected. Our family home suffered substantial damage — parts of the roof were torn off, leaving the house exposed to rain and wind. As a result of this, many things inside the home got soaked, including mattresses, linens, curtains, clothing, and other personal items.
We’ve been without power, water, and stable internet since October 28 and recovery has been extremely challenging.
Farm Damage
My family and I rely on a small farm for both food and income. The hurricane flattened it completely:
Fruit trees uprooted
Plants destroyed
Bee boxes blown away
Losing this has taken away a major source of support for both myself, my siblings and my elderly father.
My Elderly Father
My father, who is 83 years old, lives at the family home. He receives a pension, but it is nowhere near enough to cover the cost of repairs, clean-up of the property and to replace soaked items.
Every time it rains, the house floods because the tarpaulin covering the roof is old and ineffective. Watching him live in these conditions is heartbreaking, and I want to give him a safe, dry, and secure home — but right now, I simply cannot do it on my own.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Your support will help us:
Repair the damaged roof.
Replace soaked household items.
Rebuild the small farm and replace bee boxes.
Clean up the yard and property around the house, which is now full of hurricane debris.
Help my 83-year-old father live safely and comfortably.
The total goal is $50,000 USD, which will allow us to restore the home, bring safety and stability to my father, and begin rebuilding our lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you to everyone who has supported Earth’s Medicine over the years — through your views, comments, and prayers.
