I am asking for help for my sister Monica and my nephews Jake and Nate. The short story is that Monica’s ex husband is requiring her to pay him a minimum of $45,000 within the next 30-45 days in order for her to keep the roof over her and her sons head. If she doesn’t pay him the money in full, he has made it clear that he will be selling her home immediately. Her divorce agreement stated that she needed to buy him out of this home this year, but because of her losing her brick and mortar business due to covid in 2020, her tax returns didn’t allow her to qualify for the mortgage on her own. Our parents offered to co-sign on the mortgage to keep her and the boys in their house. But with a co signer, she wasn’t able to pull any equity out of the house to pay her ex husband what the divorce agreement stated she was required to. Her ex-husband lives in TX which puts the weight of being a single Mom on Monicas shoulders tremendously.

The bottom line is, her ex husband wasn’t willing to work with her on reducing this equity amount owed to him and took her to court asking them to allow him to sell this property. Amazingly, the judge ruled in his favor last Friday.

If you know my sister,you know she has worked endlessly to give my nephews everything they’ve ever needed and more. Unfortunately due to a horribly written divorce agreement, she is in a situation where she either has to buy him out of the house that he hasn’t lived in for 7 years as well as paying his lawyer fees,or he is selling it immediately. This is the house my nephews grew up in, the town where their school and friends are, and the house that my sister runs her business out of. Most divorced couples fight over who stays in the house,but in this case it’s a fight to take the house away from his children. I can not fathom telling my nephews they will be packing up their house because of their father,who lives across the country living his own life. Especially with the holidays coming up. My sister doesn’t know I am doing this,but I can not stand to watch her deal with this anymore. Any donation would mean the world to my family and I. Even if you can not donate please,please share!
