Hello Everyone,
Reaching out today for your support. This is Monica Leigh Rodriquez from Monica Leigh SVX.
It's with great sadness to share that the Eaton Fire in Altadena has devastated the Monica Leigh SVX studio... the fires destroyed our collections, our fabrics, our materials, sketches, portfolios, tools, and machines.
Our situation is dire; we have lost unique, one-of-a-kind apparel art pieces that have spanned across 3 decades. We have lost the Red Silk Origami Gown that traveled throughout the United States to various museums. We have lost irreplaceable, handcrafted, beautifully made jackets and gowns that were of custom fabrics of silk and wool, linen, and cotton. We have nothing left of our studio; it all has been leveled to the ground.
I am an artist that creates unique, one-of-a-kind special pieces. I want to continue to design; it is my passion, it is my creative vision. We at Monica Leigh SVX want to continue to put these special wearable art pieces into people's homes.
Monica Leigh SVX was a home-based, woman-owned, thriving business, with a bright future. We are heartbroken with the loss of our artistic history that documented decades of design from the mid-1990s to the present.
We have had such opportunity in our history, creating and making beautiful, artistic pieces, bringing joy and comfort to those who enjoy collectible, timeless clothing.
These pieces are gone, but we can create new designs into the future...
My husband, son, and our two cats are safe and together as we renew our future.
We have strength and fortitude, and we know we can shape our future again into a thriving creative business that supports the community of creatives, small business, and diversity.
Help me put wearable art back into the world, help us make beautiful things again. Please consider a contribution of any amount.
All donated funds will be used to find a studio space, purchase tools, supplies, furniture, and fabrics.
Thank you for your support during this most unprecedented time of need.
In Gratitude,
Monica Leigh Rodriguez
