Help Monica in her recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katy. I’m Monica’s long time forever friend since childhood, growing up in Foxboro together. Monica has been at my side supporting me through my incurable late stage cancer journey, most recently attending my weekly chemo appt’s with me, until she herself succumbed to illness.
Monica got Covid late December and was hospitalized for Covid pneumonia. Upon that hospitalization to rule out blood clots, it was discovered that she had two concerning abnormal growths in her mediastinum (chest cavity). Immediate anxiety set in which surely didn’t help breathing that was already impaired with the pneumonia. Believe me, i know how that worry feels and how much the support of others helps to take some of it away. She underwent biopsy and it was decided that both masses needed to be removed once she became stable in her recovery from pneumonia. This surgery could not be done with the least invasive procedure because of the size of the growth on her thymus (holds our immune cells). She needed major open chest surgery with a 5 day stay in the ICU. That time has now come and she had surgery on Monday 3/14. Her surgery went well, although very painful, she is home and on the long road to recovery. As many of you know, Monica is a nurse who worked in the same ICU that she was a patient in. I’m a nurse too and it’s not easy being on the other side of the bed. Monica has been through the Covid crisis as she was called back to the bedside from her administration role. She could use some help now! She has been out of work since that Covid pneumonia diagnosis in December, preparing her body for surgery and will continue to be out of work to now recover from surgery.
I understand times are tough. Your help and support for Monica and her beautiful family of 5 is very much appreciated. Thank you in advance ❤️Katy
