Help Monica get treatment for Parkinson disease
Donation protected
Monica received a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease at the age of 32, marking the beginning of a journey filled with hurdles, difficulties, pain and anxiety. She was recommend in 2020 an innovative surgical technique known as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), which appears to be highly effective in treating Parkinson especially in younger patients.
Since 2020, Monica has been on a waiting list for a few hospitals in Europe, as this surgery is not currently accessible in Romania.
Recently Monica received the long awaited call from the University Hospital Erlangen in Germany, scheduling her DBS surgery for 7th of November.
Monica is employed as a personal assistant to the head surgeon at a renowned hospital in Bucharest, Romania. Nevertheless, the Romanian healthcare system's low wages make it difficult to afford extra costs such as this overseas surgery which is self funded. Only the cost of the surgery will be covered by the European health insurance card, for the additional expenses during the hospital days for up to a month (I.e: for pre and post surgery investigations, post surgery care and equipment, travel and accommodation, etc) she requires our support.
Thank you for all your help and support!
