Fighting Covid. In ICU. Taking one day at a time.

I will let Monica explain this in her own words:
I thought hard before I made this post. You see, I have had a lot of time to think lately. Today is my day 10 of covid. Should technically be ready for my day of freedom tomorrow. But that was not to be. I’m critically ill. I’m in ICU now and need 24/7 support to continue breathing. These HEROES are trying everything they have to save me. From Meg and Sergio at A&E, who were with me in resus all day Sunday,to the amazing doctors who worked tirelessly to stabilise my condition in Resus. To the amazing COVID ward nurses that wash my tears, my body that feels so weak. The outreach team who keep me sane and lift my mood. So many lovely amazing people. My NHS brothers and sisters. This hospital is dear to me. Here I learnt to be a nurse myself. I trained here and worked here for the best part of 7 years. I left to became a specialist in my own speciality and was working as a health professional when I contracted Covid 19. Like so many colleagues, I’m double vaccinated but as we know, Covid can still kill even if you have your vaccines. That’s probably the one advantage I have. That I had antibodies and I’m fighting it. I came to ask for your help. First I need advice from a solicitor in medical negligence. If anyone knows one that could contact me or my husband, we would appreciate it. I will not expanding here however my ill health should have been treated prior to my Lincoln admission as I presented elsewhere to another hospital 2 days before and on 2 different occasions was discharged with no help.Second I would ask, pls support my amazing husband Artur Almeida and my children. Please don’t let our hard work slip. Third I would like to ask someone to help my amazing sister from another mister Jen
set up a gofundme page or please set one up for me, and for the children…as we still have to pay for the house, the car, legal fees, possibly equipment if I ever make it home, home adaptations….this list is never ending and like Tesco says every little helps. Even just a £1 will be so much appreciated.Be careful out there no stay safe. Much love. Monica
