Hii my name is monee(middle name) I am a 20yr old college student. I currently attend Tarrant County College and I’m finishing up with my associates degree.
just a little backstory about me…
I was born bowlegged with pigeon toed feet and with a hole in my heart. I was pronounced dead at birth and was miraculously revived. I was given the name Myrical(first name) pronounced miracle for surviving, I was hospitalized years after I was born and entered school late. My sisters and I grew up in Chicago and were part of the foster care system, we lost our mother and brother and our dad was absent all before the age of 8. Although I felt heartbroken and hopeless at the time, I still found comfort in learning about animals. The first book I picked up was Jane Goodall about chimpanzees, I learned how to read with that book when I was starting school and from then on I became obsessed with aiding animals myself.
In 2017 my family and I moved to Texas, I was 12 at the time. When I started high school, I took vet med classes until I graduated in 2023. I secured decent job in 2022 when I was a junior in high school. That time I was determined to save up for a car. My grandmother allowed me to live with her throughout college but unfortunately she didn’t have a car to take me to work or school so I knew I had to rely on myself for transportation. I walked to work, school and home for hours a day to avoid Ubers and save up for my car in time for college registration. After a year of working 30+hours and walking almost everyday I was finally able to get a car. I bought a 2020 Chevy tax in august 2023 and registered for classes in the same month. I was still working the same hours so I was pretty much set to pay my car note/insurance and still be able to go to school.
After a year of being in college and working the same job, I had a huge problem that completely set me back.
September 9th, 2024 I was driving to pick up a laptop from my sister’s house. I stay in crowley, Texas and she lived in Mansfield, Texas at the time so the drive was about 30min. I was coming up on McAlister Street. I had the right of way, no stop signs, no stop lights, just about to come up on a roundabout. But as I was driving, someone from the right intersection had a stop sign and blew it. I was caught off guard and in an attempt to honk and brake, I ended up T-boning the car. I had State Farm at the time and was not liable for the accident. Unfortunately insurance can only cover the value of the car which was $15000 but the loan I agreed to pay was $24000 so I was left with the remaining balance to pay. Without a car I was forced to drop out of my in person classes due to lack of attendance. On top of owing for my car, I also owed the school my financial aid for dropping out. I was working but I barely was getting paid $10/hour. My car note was $600 and insurance $400, and my job just couldn’t give me a raise after being there for 2 yrs and promoting me to Shift lead. The school was able to work with me and offered me a loan, the loan was for a much much cheaper car, although it was used and older model, I took it. I was able to attend classes and not owe the school my financial aid. I was able to pay off some of my old car so now I only owe $4500 instead of $10000 thankfully.
May 2025 I lost my job that I’ve been at for 3yrs because of discrimination of management. I was a shift lead, opened the store, did bank runs, store runs, paperwork, counted drawers, worked late by myself most nights and closed. Then I was told that I never actually held the shift lead position and the 3 yrs I was there, I was told almost every 6months that my job was working on paperwork to give me proper pay for my new shift lead position, then I was told in my last month that their was never an expectation of a raise for me but I have to continue with the job duties. I tried reporting the issue to cooperate and was taken off the schedule. I left it alone and decided to become a dasher and an instacart shopper. I payed my car note up to 3 months with the money I had, and decided to focus on summer school while doing side hustles.
July, 2025 just about 2 months later I noticed my car’s brakes and acceleration were slower than usual and decided to take my car to a mechanical shop for inspection/repair. I parked right outside my friends house, she lived in a nice suburban neighborhood with open streets. I ended up spending the night, I wanted my friend to come with me to the place so if my car has to stay for repair, I would be able to ride back home with her and not stay stuck at the mechanics. The next day when I went to start up my car, it was damaged in the front and to the driver side of the back door. I checked everywhere for a note that would tell me contact information but nobody took responsibility for hitting my car. Unfortunately because I lost my job and didn’t make much to begin with I couldn’t afford full coverage, I only had liability so insurance couldn’t help. The hood is bent and my lights are broke. The radiator is pushed into my car so I’m worried about overheating. I haven’t been able to drive much because of the condition of my car and school is about to start back up. Like last year without me being able to take myself to school, I wouldn’t be able to continue due to lack of attendance and if my car is damaged more than I realized then, anything can go wrong on my drive.
My only wish is to be able to continue my education, please if you can, donate and share, I am more than appreciative to anybody who can help me. Any amount is lifesaving and greatly appreciated. My only goal right now is to be able to go to school, so even if I only get enough to get my car fixed or at least the hood and radiator fixed then that’s more than enough and I would be thankful.
Thank you!
