Mona is a sweet 3–4 year old pup who has already endured far more than any dog should. When we were asked by the shelter to take her in, we knew we couldn’t say no. Her previous owners were facing serious charges, and with animal cruelty laws in our area being so weak, there was a heartbreaking risk she would end up back in their care.

When Mona first arrived, she was in rough shape: unspayed, mammary tumors, severely infected ears, no vaccinations, and a massive tumor on her foot that blisters and makes her limp in pain. It was clear she had been used for breeding, her body showing the toll of too many litters with little care.

Thanks to an incredible foster family, Mona has finally felt love, patience, and gentle hands. They’ve already spent countless hours at the vet, even helping to cover treatments to ease her pain — collectively spending near $800 so far. But Mona’s journey isn’t over yet. Her vet has given us a full estimate for surgery to remove her tumors once and for all, so she can finally heal and live without constant pain. The cost for this life-changing procedure is $2,500.
