Hello!! Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Our Mom, Cheryl Buehring, is the most selfless, genuine, sincere and helpful person on the planet! She is absolutely the rock of our family, walking alongside our dad for 37 years in all God has called him to do, as well as serving her kids and grandkids every single week.
As you may know, when you talk with our Mom, her voice can sound “shaky” at times, and it can be hard to hear or understand her. Twenty-two years ago, she developed what is called “Spasmodic Dysphonia”, a disorder in which the muscles that generate a person’s voice goes into periods of spasm. At times, it hurts her to talk, and it gets worse when she’s tired or feels stressed.
With our dad, Dave Buehring, serving as a leader, speaker and pastor, Mom finds herself in all kinds of scenarios where she has to talk and converse with others. Sometimes in these situations communication is difficult, almost feeling physically impossible. As you can imagine, this can spill over to how she feels both mentally and emotionally.
So far this condition has no cure. And, insurance doesn’t cover it. However, there are some ways to relieve it and manage it. This includes Botox injections into the area around the voice box, every 3-4 months (which has been proven most effective). Other options include things like eye therapy and brain mapping.
As her 60th birthday approaches, we would love to give her the gift of rediscovering her voice. So, we are asking you, friends that know and love her, for your help towards 18 months of the treatment(s) of her choice.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and consider a gift towards a new voice for her new decade! Any and all gifts are GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Shhhhh…this is a BIG SURPRISE for her birthday on August 5th…so please don’t say anything to her about it.
Our Dad is aware of this, so if you have any questions, you are more than welcome to talk with him about it. I will keep those who donate to this updated on her progress.
With love,
Malia & Ryan
P.S.- When donating, GoFundMe has started asking for a tip, since they no longer charge for the platform. You should be able to change the amount to "other" and enter in $1.00.
If you're having trouble and want to bypass this altogether by doing a different form of payment - email me at [email redacted]
