Help Momma Overcome Synovial Sarcoma Cancer and Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am setting this up for my momma. April 19th my momma went to have a biopsy of her right foot, the surgeon referred her out Emory orthopedics and spine center to Dr. Shervin Oskouei, which is an orthopedic oncology, this is where we found out that she has a aggressive Synovial Sarcoma tumor which is spread out all through her foot and has started eating at the bones in her foot. This is also when we found out that this type of cancer goes straight to your lungs. From there she was scheduled a CT chest and PET scan of her whole body to make sure it has not spread anywhere else. Thankfully it only came back secluded to the right foot. After all of that, She was referred to go see Dr. William Reed the oncologist at Emory Winship Cancer center, where Dr.Reed and Dr.Oskouei both determined that it’s best to amputate her right foot on June 3rd in order to remove the cancer, chemotherapy was not a option because it will only shrink the tumor, not stop it from growing throughout her body to lungs. There after she will have to do a PET scan every 3 month, will be monitored very closely with many of follow up visits with Dr.Oskouei. Six weeks after the procedure she will also need to obtain a prosthetic foot and go to physical therapy to learn how to walk and balance with it. After learning with all of this overwhelming news, she was let go from her job this past Thursday so therefore she will lose her insurance May 31st. But she is asking to still use her short-term disability that she paid for a while being at that job.
