On September 3rd, 2025, my mother Tanya began her battle against high-grade uterine serous carcinoma.

After receiving a medically necessary hysterectomy in August 2025, my mother thought that she would no longer have to experience symptoms, including excruciating pelvic pain, back pain, and abdominal pain that rendered her unable to do anything for hours and even days. She had no idea that the removal of her uterus would result in a much more serious diagnosis.

The cancer that my mother was formally diagnosed with is high-grade uterine serous carcinoma at stage 3c. This extremely shocking diagnosis was the last thing she expected to happen to her, and the past 9 months have been a very long journey. The treatments that she has been undergoing, along with the debilitating symptoms of the cancer itself, have taken quite a toll on her, with several hospital stays and because of that, it has been hard to keep up with daily life and expenses.

The first big part of the treatment was the hysterectomy itself. However, there are three years of three different types of chemotherapy, multiple rounds of radiation, and symptoms related to the cancer and the treatments themselves that she endures daily. These symptoms include extreme fatigue, joint pain, and muscle pain, which make it so that there are many days when she is unable to leave the house.

With all of this in mind, it goes without saying that the cancer that she has, along with everything that comes with it, has left her unable to work. Since her diagnosis, my mother has found herself in a position of need because her body cannot push itself like it used to.
