I adopted an 11-year-old senior cat last year to give her a safe, loving home after she was surrendered from inhumane conditions. Last week, we found out she has a mass on her right lung and needs chemotherapy. I’m raising funds for her required bloodwork and chemo medication so she can have more warm heating-blanket naps and time by my side.
Help My Senior Girl Fight Cancer ❤️
Hi everyone,
Last May, I went to the animal shelter after finally feeling ready to open my heart again following the loss of my beloved cat, Momo, in 2018. I originally planned to adopt a kitten — but on my way out, I stopped to look at the senior cats.
That’s when I met Mom.
She was 10 years old and had been surrendered from her previous home due to “inhumane conditions.” The moment I saw her, I knew she was coming home with me. I wanted to give her a soft, safe place to land for the rest of her life — and over the past year, she’s slowly let her guard down, learning she’s finally safe.
She’s 11 now — my sweet little girl, my tiny shadow who follows me from room to room and loves being wherever I am.
Last week, during a routine vet visit, we received devastating news: they found a mass on her left lung.
I am heartbroken. After speaking with her vet, I’ve decided to start chemotherapy medication to give her the best chance at more quality time.
Before she can begin treatment, she needs a full blood exam (including urinalysis) to make sure her body is strong enough to safely handle the medication. Because this clinic is not our regular vet, a required wellness exam must also be completed before the bloodwork can be done.
We’re hoping to start treatment as soon as possible once her bloodwork clears her.
The costs to begin treatment are:
• Required wellness exam: $116
• Blood panel + urinalysis: $385
• Initial chemotherapy medication: $400–$500
The total to get her started is more than I’m able to manage on my own right now.
I know there are so many pressing issues in the world. But because she’s a senior, time feels especially precious. I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t at least try.
Chemo gives her a real chance at more warm heating-blanket naps beside me, more dramatic little bites when I’m not giving her enough attention, and more moments together.
I adopted her knowing senior cats are often overlooked. I’m committed to giving her the best care possible and fighting for as much meaningful time as we can have.
If you’re able to donate — even a small amount — it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t donate, sharing helps more than you know.
Thank you for helping me give my little girl the comfort and care she deserves. ❤️
With gratitude,
Emily
