For anyone who knows my mom, you know she has spent her entire life putting everyone else first.
Six years ago, when she was battling breast cancer (right in the middle of Covid) she refused to let us set up a "GoFundMe." Her response was always the same: “There are people who need help more than me.” That’s just who she is. But now, she truly needs help, and my brother, Thomas, and I are stepping in, whether she likes it or not :)
Three days before Christmas, my mom walked downstairs in her home to find her first floor flooded with sewage water. The damage was substantial and completely unexpected. She now needs her entire sewer line replaced...an expense that is unfortunately not covered by insurance and must be paid fully out of pocket.
While insurance will cover much of the interior damage, the cost of the sewer line replacement alone is overwhelming. My mom retired last year and is living on a fixed income, making this burden especially heavy. What should have been a peaceful start to retirement has turned into a stressful and costly crisis.
Thomas is currently serving in the Air Force and stationed in Phoenix, and he’s helping in every way he can from afar. I’ve been coordinating nonstop with contractors, restoration companies, and insurance adjusters to keep things moving. Still, the financial strain remains, and it’s more than my mom can manage on her own.
We’re asking for help to cover the sewer line replacement and any uncovered expenses. Any amount truly helps, whether it’s a donation, a share, or a kind message. They say it takes a village, and apparently that doesn’t stop once you’re in your 60s! Thank you for being apart of ours and for supporting someone who has spent her life supporting others.
