Help Mom Rebuild: 10 Years Without Utilities

Hi, my name is Katey and I’m fundraising for my mother — a woman who has survived more than most people could imagine. Nearly ten years ago, her home burned down. Since then, she has been living on her land without any running water, electricity, or basic utilities.

This is not because of addiction or poor choices — as people often assume. My mother is not a drug addict. She’s a strong, kind woman who’s been overlooked, unsupported, and failed by a system that doesn’t make it easy for people in her position to get back on their feet.

We've tried getting help before, but without the right resources, connections, or support, we kept hitting dead ends. She’s been surviving in silence — and it’s time that changed.

I wish I could bring her into my home, but I live in a tiny two-bedroom single wide trailer with my three children — a 17-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 10-month-old baby. On top of that, my mentally ill brother stays with us much of the week so I can take him to his appointments and support his care. Between caring for everyone, managing constant appointments, and supporting my family while my partner works nearly full time, working multiple jobs isn’t even an option for me.

My mom has stayed with us before, but the truth is, she’s not comfortable in our crowded and hectic home — and I don’t blame her. She deserves a peaceful, stable space of her own. That’s why I’m trying to raise money to get her a camper — something she can live in on her property, with real utilities, real warmth, and real dignity.

This fundraiser will help cover:

The cost of a used camper in livable condition

Delivery or towing fees

Hookups and utility setup (electric, water, etc.)

Basic furnishings and supplies
