This is a new gofundme for the Vincent family’s 2025 financial needs. The original gofundme did a great job covering the original medical expenses for Karen and baby Alexander, who is now a thriving 2 year old, and provided the much needed support to cover the family’s essential needs for the past two years. Despite many efforts to find sustainable support for their family, Karen and Raymond continue to face roadblocks with disability benefits and sufficient care for Karen and the children that would allow Raymond to return to work.
We are so grateful for the amazing support this family has received. We ask for your continued financial support as the Vincent family navigates each new challenge. We also ask for your prayers and grace during this immensely difficult time for the family. All funds go directly to Karen’s medical & physical care and to support the family while Raymond, who is self-employed, remains unable to return to work.
Karen’s medical needs remain extensive and require 24/7 monitoring and assistance exclusively for her needs. The challenge of finding help that can manage this need has resulted in miscommunications and difficulty maintaining outside support. The complexities of Karen’s situation requires multiple doctors and significant coordination of care. This resulted in a gap of care maintenance at the end of last year and contributed to many of the dangerous, life threatening issues Karen began facing around November 2024 that still cause many of her ongoing challenges.
Many of you have been following Karen’s journey from the start. For those who are less familiar:
On April 22, 2023, after a month of declining health and 27 weeks pregnant, Karen was admitted to the emergency room. What was thought to be a form of preeclampsia turned out to be something far more serious.
First, the happy news: Doctors stabilized and induced Karen which resulted in an emergency C-section and we are overjoyed to tell you that Alexander Constantine Vincent was born healthy, despite being three months premature. And is now a healthy 2yo. His 3 months stay in the NICU presented its own challenges, but he’s healthy and growing and without any ongoing health issues.
However, for Karen things have been more complicated. After surgery, doctors performed CT scans to find the underlying cause of her condition and rapidly deteriorating health. The scans revealed that Karen had Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her bones, liver, and brain. We were absolutely devastated by this news.
When your world turns upside down, you don’t really know where to turn. As Christians, the Vincent family turns to God. We know He is watching over them, and we know He has a plan for their family. But that path can be difficult to navigate, especially in the darkest times.
What do you do when one of your brightest moments — the birth of your son — turns into your darkest fears? What do you do when God challenges you in a way you never conceived of?
Of course, you do whatever you can to meet the challenge. And that’s what they are doing.
Karen's next challenge was a brain bleed. After Doctors stabilized her, she was able to undergo her first round of chemotherapy, the first of many treatment phases she has now endured. We continue to pray for a miracle as we search for an effective form of treatment. So far, many promising courses of treatment have also resulted in unsustainable side effects. We fully believe Karen can beat this cancer, and she continues to fight through every setback.
This sweet family of 8 is confronting the most difficult period in their lives. They are up against impossible odds. But we know that with your help, they will get through this with grace and dignity.
With all our gratitude,
The Vincent and Peck Family
