Help Mom of 4 get basic needs for kids after IDA
My name is Tamara and I am fundraising for my cousin, Bryanna, and her 4 children. She is from New Orleans, LA (affectionately called NOLA). She’s also a Katrina survivor who although was 12 years old at the time, remembers the horror of the aftermath NOT evacuating. So like many of the survivors of Hurricane Ida she evacuated to make sure her four children were safe. They are 13, 8, 6 and 18 months. The two youngest have asthma so staying without air conditioning and power was not an option.
When the storm hit, she drove four hours east to stay in a hotel for 6 days. With her savings running out, she had limited options. I encouraged her to come to Omaha ,NE where she and the kids would be safe. We know Omaha is a great place. So, she set out on a 15 hour drive with her kids in tow to Omaha, NE.
In NOLA, she was a Uber/Lyft driver. This gave her the flexibility to work while her kids were in school. As you can imagine, with all that’s going on down there, driving for a living in NOLA is not an option right now. Since she has not been able to work and spent her savings on a hotel, food and gas, I am asking for assistance for the basics - food, clothing, and rental assistance.
Any assistance is much appreciated.
God bless.
