My name is Marie Lombardo. I have known Andrea for more than 19 years ( her mother and I met at a grief group following the death of Andrea’s father)

Starting in October 2022, Andrea consulted doctors, made multiple ER visits, and was hospitalized for ten days in November because of concerning symptoms ( fatigue, significant weight loss, anemia, bleeding, etc). Unfortunately, even with her symptoms, the doctors did not diagnose colon cancer until April 2023 when she was 32 weeks pregnant with her fourth child. The diagnosis has been devastating.

Her daughter, Marigold, was delivered four weeks early on May 1, 2023 in order for Andrea to begin her fight!

Andrea’s cancer has spread to liver, both ovaries, lungs, and peritoneum.

Andrea had her first surgery in May 2023 and has had several additional surgeries since then. She has also undergone a series of radiation treatments.

Because of health delays, Andrea was not able to start chemo until five months after diagnosis( September 2023). She currently receives chemo every two weeks

Andrea’s son, Max, has a congenital heart condition and had his second open heart surgery in October of 2025. Max’s recovery has been difficult , and he continues to recover.

I am raising funds so I can help Andrea and her children: Madeline, Max, Monty, and Marigold by easing the burden of this difficult journey as much as possible. There has been, and will continue to be numerous unexpected expenses related to the cancer. Cancer is expensive!

In addition to helping with these unexpected expenses, we want to give Andrea’s 4 children some special attention and opportunities to make memories with their mom.

( and please, if you have any symptoms that may indicate colon cancer, insist that your medical provider do thorough testing, even if you are young. Andrea had symptoms for many months, and we can’t help but wonder if things could have been different if diagnosed earlier.)
