Help Mom Fight Her Brain Cancer Journey
Donation protected
For about 2 weeks, my mom was experiencing severe headaches and began to have problems with her speech. She finally went to the hospital where she was told she had a brain tumor. After several CT scans and MRIs, the size of the tumor showed to be that of a golf ball. The tumor was pushing against her motor skills nerves and causing her to have weakness in her right arm and leg. Surgery was scheduled for a week later and she was sent home. Within that week, her speech declined and she lost all use of her right arm. It was discovered that the tumor had grown.
Her surgery went well, however, the doctor was unable to remove all of the tumor due to its location in her brain. When the biopsy came back, our worst fear was confirmed. My mom was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a very aggressive type of brain cancer. She is still recovering from surgery and has a long process ahead of her. She will need to receive radiation treatments and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this type of cancer. This is something she will have to live with and monitor very closely for the rest of her life.
As her daughter, I have decided to take time off work to help care for her. She will need assistance with everyday activities as she still has no use of her right side. She will require a wheelchair and other medical equipment. We want her to be able to live the best possible life she can and we need your support.
