My dear friend and colleague, Tytina, has just suffered a devastating house fire. Two nights ago, she awoke to smoke and saw her kitchen engulfed in flames. She immediately woke her children to help them escape the fast-spreading flames and thick smoke. They all survived, but her beloved cats perished in the fire, along with all of her family's possessions. Tytina lost her cell phone, photo albums and mementos, legal documents, clothes, medication, and more. Her children lost all of their toys, books, clothes, and shoes. The family is in shock and reeling from this loss. They are staying at a hotel and need to rebuild their life.

Tytina is a tireless advocate for moms, babies, families, and people with rare and chronic diseases. She has dedicated her entire life to caring for others. Tytina's work at the milk bank, her work as a doula and lactation counselor, and her advocacy have made the world a better place. Tytina's journey as a rare disease advocate began when she was diagnosed with multiple vascular compression syndromes, including nutcracker syndrome. She had to undergo several surgical procedures, including an auto-kidney transplant. Despite debilitating pain and impaired mobility, Tytina remains a positive force and her advocacy is stronger than ever.
