Hi everyone,

As some of you already know, Molly’s mum, Christine, passed away on Friday, April 10th, 2026. It’s been a huge shock, especially as Molly had only found out about her mum being terminal just five weeks before.

Christine seemed like herself over Christmas and even celebrated her 73rd birthday on New Year’s Eve. But by mid-January, things started to change—she wasn’t as interested in her usual routines, like taking the dogs out or sitting down to watch her favourite programmes. By mid-February, she was saying she didn’t want to get out of bed because it was just too difficult. As much as Molly tried to encourage her to see a doctor, she wouldn’t go.

It wasn’t until Christine fell out of bed on March 6th and was taken to the hospital that it became clear how serious things were. That’s when doctors confirmed that the cancer had already spread and was well advanced.

Over the next few weeks, Molly visited her as much as she could, and yet there were times her mum didn’t recognise her. At the same time, Molly was trying to keep everything else going—making sure the dogs were fed, the guinea pig was looked after—and the costs started to add up quickly.

Now Molly is left trying to sort through all of her mum’s bills and figure out what comes next—changing the name on the rental agreement, dealing with any outstanding debts, and sorting things like electricity, water, and waste. On top of that, she’s also having to plan a funeral.

As her chosen family, I’m hoping we can come together and help support her through this. It’s a lot for anyone to carry on their own.
