Help Molly Secure Safe Housing and Stability
Donation protected
My name is Molly. I'm a 77-year-old retired from a 30+ year career in health care. My life changed dramatically six weeks ago when my husband, age 79 years, decided for the fifth time in the past thirteen years that he no longer wants to be married, own a home, mow the lawn, or participate in an emotional or financial relationship with me.
I am older and less financially capable of sustaining my physical needs of shelter, food, and utilities costs on my single fixed income. A portion of my current income, one-third, will be depleted within the next four years. My request for financial assistance is important to me because of my age and limited resources. I would use any funds shared with me to help me secure safe, affordable housing and help with costs of storage for personal items that will not fit into a 600 sqft apartment downsized from a 1650 sqft home.
The home will be sold, but proceeds will be minimal as there is still a mortgage being carried on the home. It is urgent that I move from my home even before it sells as my husband is cashing out his personal assets. I want and need to move forward away from the anxiety of sharing physical space with an unpredictable person. I have been in contact with legal professionals, but I have concerns about how to pay for any mounting legal costs. I am actively searching online and physically for housing. I am packing my belongings. I am trying to care for an aging dog (she is 10 and ½ years old), which presents another challenge as she is unable to maneuver a living space with stairs.
I have marginal transportation available to me as the car we own has been in the dealership service center for over three months, and they are unable to figure out why it will not run. I have spent $7500 on a rebuilt engine, and the car still does not run. Asking for help is difficult and humbling for me as I've always been such a frugal spender and saved diligently for needed items such as dental work and vehicle maintenance. I fully realize, almost too late, that I cannot fix another human being. I am seeking and trying for some peace in my last years of life. Thank you for hearing my story. Thank you for any help you can give.
