Help Molly Make it to a New Kidney
Donation protected
On behalf of Molly’s loved ones, we’d like to request some assistance with the mounting costs of her worsening kidney failure.
Molly Calvin is a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She has dedicated her career to the care of animals as a veterinary technician. She has built a life in Denver with her longtime partner Max, their hound dog Sam, and a ginger cat named Archimedes.
After years of dealing with worsening health, last summer she was officially diagnosed with kidney failure. This means that the pair of waste-processing organs most of us take for granted are operating at about 10% or less. She is in need of a transplant. Thanks to the hard work of her medical team, it was discovered that the failure is attributable to a rare genetic disorder that has expressed itself in a particularly damaging way in her body. Unfortunately, this has made the donor eligibility among family more difficult than anticipated.
While it was great to finally have an answer to what had been ailing her, this diagnosis ended up being the beginning of a more complicated journey. Everyone was hopeful Molly would find a donor before her condition worsened. That has not been the case. She was recently put on dialysis, an incredibly time consuming and exhausting process. This necessary treatment will help in keeping her well as she awaits a transplant, but it greatly restricts her ability to work and live as fully as she has been.
We are so grateful to all the generous friends and family who have stepped up to be tested as a potential donor match. You guys are truly amazing. Please consider financially supporting Molly as she enters a new stage of her journey. In addition to facing reduced working hours, we all know there are costs insurance does not cover. She is facing a very difficult road. We are hopeful looking ahead, and know she is incredibly strong, but help never hurts. Together we can make this easier for her.
