Hi everyone,
Some of you may remember Molly’s ear surgery last year. She developed a benign tumour that required a TECA-BO surgery, meaning the removal of her entire ear canal.
At the time, the surgeon warned me that he expected to see Molly again within a year for the other ear.
Unfortunately, that is now the case almost a year to the day.
The mass in her remaining ear prevent proper drainage and can lead to chronic infections and very serious complications if not removed. Unfortunately, the only way to remove the mass is to remove the entire ear canal with it.
Her surgery is scheduled for March 17 and the cost was estimated between $7,000 and $10,000.
The surgeon generously offered to do the CT scan for free, saving me about $1,500, and the Vancouver Humane Society has commited to contribute $500 through their McVitie Veterinary Assistance Program.
My friend Christine created a GoFundMe last year, and it helped tremendously for Molly’s procedure. It is honestly the only reason I was able to afford Molly’s first surgery, and I thank everyone who helped me through this.
This past year has also been incredibly hard for me medically, with infections and complications from my own surgeries. Molly has been by my side through all of it. She has been my rock through a very difficult year.
She is only 6 years old, and after this surgery she has a very good chance at living a long, happy life. She now understands recall on her vibration collar and is well trained with hand signals. I think she is ready and will feel much better once this mass causing her chronic pain is finaly gone.
Many people eeached out saying they would love to help again for this second procedure. I was hesitant to set up yet another Gofundme, but the outreach led me to believe it was the right thing to do.
If many people contribute a small amount, the surgery could be covered very quickly! Two Starbucks coffees are about $20. If enough people “buy Molly a couple of coffees,” we could reach the goal together within days. ☕️
Thank you so much for your kindness and support, and please feel free to share.
