Help Molly Buy a Refurbished Engine

After moving back to North Carolina to apply to graduate school I knew I would have to buy a car. I did so with the little savings I had in hopes of using the car until after the completion of graduate school. I bought a car that would be safe in the snow, so I expended some additional cost by purchasing a used Subaru forestor. One always takes a risk buying a used car, but the risk felt worth it. Now I am in the midst of my graduate school program while working full-time as a pantry manager at a Detroit food pantry after years of working with kids with special needs, working at a social justice school in Chicago, managing a soup kitchen in Chicago, and volunteering across many sectors. I currently live in community with others who also serve the poor in Detroit and we vowed to live simply, spiritually, and communally. My income is minimal, $100 a month. So when I discovered my engine broke after a timing belt broke, I was shattered by the gloomy implications. I need my car to travel around safely in the Detroit winter to work and school. I spend my time helping others, studying, and working. I feel awful asking for it, but I need help.
