Hi, our name is Molly, and we’re also known as the Sleepy System. We are an intersex, Indigenous, queer, disabled, and neurodivergent DID system facing an urgent housing crisis.

We have experienced homelessness on and off since 2019, and our disabilities currently make it extremely difficult for us to maintain regular employment. We are continuing to apply for jobs, but the job market has been incredibly challenging, and we have not received any interviews yet. We are also working toward applying for disability benefits, but that process can take a long time.

Recent funding cuts under the Trump administration have affected the rent-assistance program that has been helping us stay housed. Our assistance is now expected to end on September 30, leaving us responsible for our full rent of $1,700 per month, along with accumulated late fees. Losing this support so suddenly is frightening, especially after we have already worked so hard to escape homelessness.

At the same time, we are going through a divorce after an eight-year marriage, leaving our life and finances in significant disarray. We are doing everything we can to rebuild stability, find work that accommodates our disabilities, and access the benefits and resources available to us.

Funds raised will go directly toward rent, late fees, essential living expenses, and keeping us and our beloved service dog, Sally, safely housed while we continue searching for employment and pursuing disability benefits.
