Help Mokhtar's family evacuate Gaza and start a new life

I'm Lucy Feagins, I'm from Melbourne, Australia and I am hosting this GoFundMe on behalf of Mokhtar Murtaja and his family of seven, in Gaza, Palestine.

Funds donated to this GoFundMe will be withdrawn in Australia by me (Lucy), and transferred via international money transfer to Mokhtar's family in Egypt, to help pay for the Murtaja family's travel + evacuation expenses from Gaza to Egypt.

Mokhtar is 17 years old. He and his family of seven (Father Saeed, Mother Manar, sister Lina (16), and brothers Karim (14), Abdul (12), and Omar (8)) are currently based in Rafah, Gaza, where they have been since being forced to flee their home in northern Gaza.

Their family home, which was built 23 years ago, has been completely destroyed. The family is currently living in temporary accomodation near Rafah. The area where they are staying is under constant threat of bombing, and a ground invasion is imminent. The family are terrified of this.

Finding food, water, or medical supplies is almost impossible. This is especially difficult for Mokhtar's Father, who has diabetes.

Leaving Gaza for Egypt is the family's only hope of surviving Israel's ongoing genocide. They have some family in Egypt who will assist them if they successful in evacuating there.

THE GOOD NEWS is that with the support of many people via social media, I (Lucy) have successfully raised enough funds for Mokhtar's family to evacuate and travel to Egypt! We expect, all going well, that the Murtaja family will travel to Egypt on or around May 12th!

However, the money we raised last month was just enough to cover travel costs for the family of 7 (due to demand, it now costs over $5000 for anyone over 16 to travel from Gaza to Egypt, and $2500 per person for younger children). So the family now urgently need to build up a small safety net of funds to cover accomodation and immediate living expenses upon their arrival in Egypt.

The funds raised here will be used for :

- Renting + setting up an apartment in Egypt for 3 - 6 months

- Food + Medical needs for the first few months in Egypt

Any amount you can give will go directly to the Murtaja family, and enable them to safely evacuate Gaza and build a new life.
