Help Moke fight cancer!
We are reaching out to you now because one of our own is in need of help. On June 20th, Moke (Michael) Ozinga visited the ER with serious right sided pain, fatigue, and almost unbearable shortness of breath.
After a CT scan, it was immediately discovered that his lungs and heart were surrounded by fluid and his right lung was partially collapsed. Multiple masses were also discovered throughout his neck and chest.
Medical professionals made the urgent decision to transfer him to Billings immediately via ambulance for further assessment and treatment.
Within the next 24 hours Moke underwent a few imminent procedures as well as a surgery. He remained at Billings Clinic Hospital while undergoing further evaluation and awaiting test results. On Friday, June 25th, Moke was given the hard news that the diagnosis is Stage 3 Classic Hodgkins Lymphoma. The following day he received his first dose of chemotherapy as his oncologist felt it best to "blast this right away."
His doctors have determined that he will need at least a total of 12 rounds of chemotherapy which at a minimum will take 6 months to complete.
Moke has always been a hard worker as a carpenter in the field of construction. Throughout his career he has remained strong, skilled, and physically active.
However, due to the nature of this disease and the strain that these intense medications can have on the body, Moke will be unable to return to work while he is completing treatment and for the unforeseeable future.
