I am a fun-loving, visually impaired artist who is now a pensioner. I live in the much-loved colourful mosaic-ed house on Spillman's Road in Stroud. All my life I have supported myself as a self-employed artist. I was an internationally respected fine art restorer, until the recent loss of over 50% of my sight. (www.picture-conservation.com)
I had a light-filled, recycled, eco-studio with the most beautiful stained-glass doors and windows, built in my garden during lockdown. The joy of this studio kept me going through many eye operations. The studio is a magic space for me where I can watch the birds, enjoy my garden and, for as long as my sight permits, make mosaics and paint large expressive colourful paintings which give me strength and purpose and can be enjoyed by others.
My studio is now under imminent threat.
- Neighbours have complained to the council.
- One end of the studio is too high.
- I have to lower the roof height by the 22nd of May 2023 or Stroud Council will take enforcement action.
I do not have the money for this and friends have suggested crowdfunding. This is why I am asking for your help. I would be so grateful if you could donate or spread the word to others. I need the money to lower the height of the studio and to reroof it with a rubber membrane.
I will happily make a fish card for everyone that helps.
