Help Karam’s Family Survive in Gaza

My name is Portia Lawrie and I am based in Essex, UK. Together with my friend Marie Koupparis, we created this fundraiser to support our friends Mohanad, Afnan and their displaced family in Gaza.

Since October 2023, their family of 9 have been repeatedly displaced and are now living together in a tent after their home was destroyed.

Among them is adorable 4-year-old Karam. He is growing up surrounded by displacement, fear, shortages, and instability. when he should be able to play, learn and grow free of such things. Despite this Karam is a constant source of joy. His smile is a bright light for the family and their love for him is the thing that keeps driving them forward even when it feels impossible.

Single mother, Afnan, is doing everything she can to protect and care for him under impossible conditions.

The family currently struggles daily to access:

- Food

- Clean water

- Medicine

- Shelter materials

- Internet and electricity access

- Other basic essentials needed for survival

Despite everything, they continue trying to create moments of hope and normality for Karam through daily routines, planting seedlings for food, and sharing pieces of their life online with supporters.

This fundraiser supports:

- Basam and Eman (parents)

- Their adult children: Yasser, Afnan, Rawan, Mohammed, Mohanad, and Rewaa

- Their grandson: Young Karam

Funds are used to help the family survive day-to-day life in Gaza while they continue hoping for safety and stability in the future.
