Save My Family from Gaza War

My name is Mohammad Diab. I am an English teacher, and I ran an educational center for a decade in Gaza. My wife, Kariman Al-Banna, was a volunteer for the Gaza Mental Health Program.

We once had a secure home, but that changed after October 7th, 2023 when we were forced to flee with our four children, leaving behind all our personal documents and belongings. We were all terrified as the bombs began to fall, not knowing if we would survive from one day to the next.

Initially we had hoped we could return to our home quickly, but we soon realized that this was not to be. Now, we’ve been displaced for months with no work or sense of safety. The constant threat of violence is taking a terrible toll on our family.

Our children, particularly our daughter Leen, suffers from extreme trauma, leading to health complications. My eldest daughter, Sima, born during a previous war, struggles with anxiety and fear. My youngest son, Firas, remains silent but is visibly afraid, while my eldest son, Bashar, though resilient, shows signs of distress.

With nowhere to go and facing increasing hardships, we have joined other displaced families in shelters, enduring a scarcity of water, food, and sleep. Bashar has fallen ill, further adding to our struggles.

Eventually, I decided we had to leave Gaza for the sake of my children's safety, despite having to leave behind everything we had built.

In addition, I want to help my father Bassam and my brother Fadi to evacuate with us as our house was destroyed.

The journey to leave Gaza and secure a future for my family is fraught with challenges. The cost of travel, housing, and medical treatment are overwhelming, leaving me desperate for assistance to provide for my family and to escape the cycle of suffering and uncertainty.

We as a family would be so grateful to have your generous support so that we may have the chance to start a new life outside of Gaza. We hope to raise $50,000 cad to be used for travel expenses to Egypt as well as accommodation, medical, and living expenses.
