This is my first time fundraising on GoFundMe, and I’m doing it to support a dear friend in Karachi, Pakistan.

Mohammed* was a kind man, whom I visited regularly at the Melbourne Detention Centre for over two years before he was deported back to Pakistan. He has always been kind-hearted and resilient, but life has taken a difficult turn for him recently.

About four months ago, Mohammed* was in a serious accident that crushed his right hand. He underwent surgery and is still in recovery. He now needs physiotherapy and another operation, but he simply can’t afford it.

Due to his injury, Mohammed* hasn't been able to work for months. As a result, he’s struggling to cover basic needs like food for his family and medical treatment. Sadly, he’s also had to pull his child out of school because they can no longer pay the fees. They are in a very difficult place right now.

I’m raising funds to help ease their burden to help him get the therapy and medical attention he needs, to feed his family, and hopefully to get his child back in school.

Please don’t underestimate what even a small donation can do. Even $10 or $20 goes a long way in Pakistan and can make a meaningful difference in their lives.
