On September 29, 2026, at approximately 9:55 a.m., Mohammed Hussain was critically injured while riding the e-scooter he loved so much. Mohammed had saved for months to purchase it himself, and what should have been something he enjoyed became a life-changing tragedy when he was struck by a motor vehicle at Ford Street and Ontario Street.
Mohammed suffered severe, multiple fractures throughout his body. He was initially transported to Windsor Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus Healthcare, where he waited for hours in severe pain while arrangements were being made to transfer him to a trauma centre. Although a helicopter transfer was initially promised, it was later cancelled, and Mohammed was transported by ambulance to London Health Sciences Centre.
Mohammed is now in the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) at the Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, where he continues to receive intensive care.
He has already undergone multiple surgeries and faces a long and difficult road to recovery. His right leg was shattered in multiple places, his right arm was broken, and he has multiple fractures to his face. Because of the significant swelling in his face and neck, he remains on a ventilator. His medical team is waiting for the swelling to improve before plastic surgeons can begin repairing the multiple facial fractures.
Mohammed is so much more than his injuries.
To me, Mohammed is like a son. He is a brother to my daughters and sons and has been my son Hunter McClelland's best friend since Grade 7, when they met at Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School.
Mohammed is a beloved member of our community. He played soccer on the Brennan soccer team and has many friends at Brennan High School, Riverside Secondary School, and throughout Windsor-Essex.
He is also an avid fisherman who loves participating in fishing derbies. He has made so many friendships and touched so many lives along the way.
Right now, Mohammed and his family need our support.
His recovery is going to be a long, difficult, and expensive process. There will be ongoing medical needs, travel expenses, rehabilitation, and many other costs as Mohammed works toward rebuilding his life after this devastating accident.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to Mohammed and his family. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community would also be an incredible way to help.
Please keep Mohammed in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to fight through this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support.
With gratitude,
McClelland family.
