Help Mohammed and Jumana From Gaza Save Their Future

Donation protected

Dear compassionate souls,

today, I come to you with a story of resilience, love, and hope amidst the darkness of conflict and displacement.
Meet Mohammed and Jumana, a young Palestinian couple from Gaza whose lives have been shattered by the relentless onslaught of war. Mohammed and Jumana were on the brink of starting their journey together, eagerly planning for a future filled with love, hope, and shared dreams, as they were just engaged 3 days prior to the war start. However, the outbreak of conflict has mercilessly stripped away their aspirations, leaving them homeless and grappling with the harsh realities of survival amidst chaos.

Mohammed says:
“Surviving countless encounters with death alongside my fiancée, I've confronted the harsh truth: safety remains an elusive concept within the confines of the Gaza Strip. Enduring the confusion of displacement time and again, I've struggled with not having enough of the basics—water, food, medicine. Even simple things like bathing or getting clean water feel impossible sometimes.”

Mohammed, a talented orthopedic doctor, once dedicated his life to healing and saving others in Gaza. His skills and expertise were invaluable, but alas, the relentless violence of war shattered his dreams and his livelihood. With no choice but to flee the death, Mohammed left behind his patients, his colleagues, and his sense of purpose, facing an uncertain future.

Jumana says:
“We've been stripped of everything – our home, our livelihoods, our aspirations. Instead of Bridzella moments and makeup tears, here I am, my greatest concern lies with the family we've yet to start, its future is now uncertain. Where will we find shelter to marry, opportunities for education, the space to simply grow old together? In Gaza, hope feels like a distant memory, as life's essentials lie in ruins. The future for my family seems bleak, clouded by uncertainty. My fiancé and I once planned a life of simplicity and peace, a bright tomorrow for our children. We desired for our dreams to flourish, like any other ordinary family. We deserve a future devoid of fear, a future brimming with promise. Every family deserves safety and access to basic necessities: food, clean water, clothing, and education. Let's rally together to ensure that our family, like countless others, can access these essentials and seize the chance for a semblance of normalcy.”

Beside him stands Jumana, his devoted fiancée, whose unwavering love and support have been his anchor in the storm. Jumana, a dedicated English teacher and a freelancer, has faced double job loss. Her teaching position vanished as schools became shelters, and her freelance work halted due to the scarcity of electricity and internet access. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with challenges and heartache, clinging to the hope of a better tomorrow. But the road ahead is fraught with obstacles, and the weight of their circumstances threatens to crush their spirits.
Mohammed and Jumana find themselves in a state of vagueness, with no job prospects, no stable income, and no place to call home. Every day is a struggle to survive, as they navigate the complexities of life as refugees, haunted by memories of the past and fears for the future.

Jumana adds:
“How can life ever feel normal when the stories I'll share with my future children won't be about how we met and how we were in love together, but about destruction, displacement, and war? Our dreams for a peaceful life now seem impossible. Instead of hope and happiness, I'll have to tell them stories of loss and fear. It's a heavy weight on my heart, making it hard to see any light in the future.”

Today, I humbly reach out to you for assistance. I'm asking for your support to help our small family heal from the scars of war. We seek a new, safe home, employment opportunities, and the chance for a fresh start—a glimmer of hope to begin anew.

Please, join us in standing with Mohammed and Jumana as they courageously navigate the challenges of displacement and rebuild their lives from the ashes of tragedy.
