Help Mohammed and His Family Escape War in Gaza
Donation protected
Hey there, I'm Mohammed from Gaza. I used to live with my family, consisting of my mother, a single mom with a PhD, and my three brothers: Ali, 18 years old; Yousef, 15 years old; and Ibrahim, 9 years old, in our apartment in Gaza City. We lived happily and peacefully until the war came.
We don't know how or why we entered a war we had no involvement in. The Israeli army forced us to evacuate and leave our homes and head south. We left the house, believing it would only be for a few days and we'd return, but until now, we haven't been able to go back. We headed to Khan Yunis city and stayed with relatives. There was no electricity, water, or food. My brothers and I lost a lot of weight. When the army entered Khan Yunis, we fled to a UNRWA school with more than 6000 people.
We lived a month of terror and death, with the sounds of cannons and bombing. We found ourselves in a battlefield, with people being killed every day. We waited for our turn in the continuous killing, with no treatment or burial for the dead. Going to the bathroom was a real terror because snipers would target anyone going there. There was no food or water, we barely ate from the canned food due to extreme fear and the continuous sounds of bombing.
Additionally, we suffered from bad hygiene, as maintaining cleanliness was a constant struggle. We also urgently need mental health support, especially for Ibrahim. He's only 9 years old and really scared. We're all suffering from trauma, and professional help is essential for our well-being.
Finally, we decided to leave before we got killed. We left on a trailer pulled by a tractor, raising the white flag. We walked through a road filled with bombed cars and debris. My mother left her new car out of fear of bombing. We headed to Rafah city and lived there for a week in a tent. When we heard about the army's intention to enter Rafah, we decided to go to Deir al-Balah city. There, our family split up, with my mother and younger brother in one place, and me and two middle brothers staying with our relatives because there was no place big enough for us due to overcrowding.
We now hear the army's intention to enter Deir al-Balah, and there is no safe place. We hope to live in peace and for me to complete my university studies. I only have one semester left before graduation. We also hope for my brother Ali to start studying engineering, a dream the war prevented him from pursuing in university.
We´re all suffering from trauma, and getting to safer place would mean the world to us. Thank you for listening. Your support means everything. The funds raised will be used to get Mohammed and his family out of Gaza - it costs about 5000 USD per person to leave Gaza. Any additional funds will be used to support them in their relocation.
