In the heart of Gaza, amidst the wreckage of our once-thriving city, my family and I are grappling with the ongoing destructive unprecedented war. As an English teacher, my main concern has always been providing for my family, including my brother's family, two young children, Sara and Ali. But with my income gone and our home reduced to ruins, every day is a daunting battle to secure the basic necessities for our survival.
Here's a breakdown of how the $90,000 USD would be utilized:
1. $50,000 for Rafah border crossing fees:
- $10,000 for crossing fees for each family member (5,000 for each of us)
2. $30,000 for rebuilding our home:
- $20,000 for construction materials and labor
- $10,000 for repairing structural damage and restoring essential utilities
3. $10,000 for living expenses during and after the war:
- $5,000 for immediate needs such as food, water, and medical supplies
- $5,000 for ongoing living expenses until we can secure stable income sources
With each passing day, the weight of desperation grows heavier on my shoulders. We have no resources to rebuild our shattered home, and the meager earnings I scrape together from selling goods on the streets barely cover our daily needs. The walls of Gaza seem to be closing in on us, suffocating our hopes and dreams.
But amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerges. With trembling hands, I sit down to pen a letter, pouring out my heart and pleading for assistance. We desperately need help to escape the nightmare that has become our lives.
Days turn into weeks, and just when despair threatens to consume us, there comes a knock on our door. With tears of relief streaming down my face, I find a group of humanitarian workers offering us a lifeline. They offer to provide the funds we need to rebuild our home and ensure that our family's daily needs are met.
With profound gratitude, my family and I embark on a journey of hope and healing. Though our scars may never fully fade, we carry with us the resilience born from adversity and the unwavering belief that, with the support of compassionate souls, we can rebuild our lives from the ashes of destruction.
