Help Mohammad Jannisar's family with funeral costs

My name is Kim. I'm the owner of Fit Phoenix / Core Collective Fitness in Downtown Phoenix, AZ. We are raising funds to help the family of Mohammad Jannisar, a treasured and much-loved member of Fit Phoenix, pay for medical bills and funeral expenses.

We received the heartbreaking news Mohammad Jannisar aka Mo passed away July 8, 2021. We are deeply saddened by his loss and our heartfelt condolences are with his parents, brothers, and extended family.

Mo was an incredibly special young man. He came to Fit Phoenix/Core Collective Fitness through our Kids@Core program when he was just 13. He and his three brothers lived with their father in the Garfield neighborhood. Their father wanted his boys to be fit and healthy, so he enrolled them in Kids@Core.

Mo loved CrossFit and the kids program. He made it his personal goal to improve his nutrition, lose weight, and be healthy. He rarely missed a fitness class, loved the nutrition and cooking courses, and made many friends… kids and adults. He made sure his younger brothers understood the importance of good health too. The family eventually moved to a new neighborhood, but Mo got his driver’s license and personally drove his brothers to classes.

Mo always wanted to work at Fit Phoenix. When he turned 16, we hired him! He was one of the hardest working, most reliable staff we ever had. He was incredibly loyal and cared very much about his co-workers and our members. He worked hard keeping the gym clean while always remaining focused on his fitness goals.

Once Mo graduated from high school, he went straight to community college where he carried a full load of classes, worked two jobs, and kept up his workouts. He made good grades too! He had big dreams and was very financially motivated, but he always set aside money to help his parents and his brothers.

Last February/March 2020 Mo developed some health issues. He was hospitalized with meningitis, valley fever and contracted COVID-19 when hospitalized. He was very sick for a long-time spending multiple months in the hospital.

In recent months, Mo seemed to be getting better, still not fully recovered, but on-the-mend. Sadly, he was hospitalized two days ago with sepsis. His liver failed and heart stopped at 3 p.m. July 8, 2021.

We are all heartbroken - it’s hard to understand how something like this could happen to someone so young and precious.

Please partner with us as we extend our deepest sympathies to Mohammad's family and help them cover these unexpected costs. All funds collected will go directly to the family.
