Moe was initially diagnosed with metastatic head and neck cancer in 2022. He spent 3 months at MD Anderson in Houston undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments beginning in September, responded well to treatment, and experienced a full remission by December that year. The journey continued as he rebuilt himself both physically and financially to overcome the burdens that come with cancer recovery.
In November of last year, Moe began experiencing shortness of breath and pains in his side that became worrisome enough to seek a professional opinion. A chest X-ray in December revealed fluid on his lungs and some concerning dark spots. The culture of the fluid that was removed revealed possible malignancy. December 2024 brought a CT scan and a positive PET scan. A biopsy in January confirmed the reoccurrence of cancer. On January 16th, 2025, Moe received the diagnosis of Stage 3 inoperable lung cancer, specifically Squamous Cell Carcinoma. This was a puzzling and devastating diagnosis as Moe lives and breathes a healthy lifestyle with physical fitness as a way of life.
Moe began chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy on Feb 5th, has and will continue treatment every 3 weeks for the next 4 months until his next scan. With this type of aggressive cancer, having an excellent response in the first 4 to 6 months is crucial and necessary for complete remission. Moe is a fighter in every way possible, and intends to remain optimistic during this time. His humor, kindness, easygoing nature, and resilience continue to shine through. Moe is a true gentleman, a private person that never complains. He has been quietly fighting but it's getting a bit heavy. He is humble and kind, a father who deeply loves his children.
That being said, the burden of monthly living and medical expenses is heavy on Moe and his children. Please join in supporting Moe in the fight for his life so that he and his family can focus on healing, rest and recovery during this trying emotional, physical and economic time.
