Hello Community -

We are raising money to help Don Modesto purchase sacred land in Wirikuta where he intends to build a learning center to teach about the sacred Hikuri medicine. This will help with preservation and revitalization of his culture, the sacred medicines, and protect land from mining and development.

His father, who is now passed on, purchased the land with a partner. Recently, the partner indicated that either Modesto had to buy him out or they would have to sell the land. Modesto is also involved in many other community-supporting projects in his home in Mexico and in Wirikuta, including raising money to drill a well to get water to his community and many other community-supporting and cultural-protective efforts.

By our standards, this piece of land is not expensive - it would cost a little over $3,000 to complete the purchase. We are hoping that the generosity of our abundance can serve to support Modesto as a spiritual leader in the Wiraxika tradition and play a role in protecting and ensuring both his culture and the sacred medicine that grows there.
